For international students, the MTA Institute addresses the real challenges around finding quality training that is in demand by industry. The MTA Institute’s focus is to provide high quality, reliable automotive training that meets the productivity needs of the sector. This has seen the MTA Institute grow to become the largest private provider of automotive vocational training in Queensland. MTA Institute trainers have real world skills to provide you with a high-quality learning experience. They are recruited from industry, not the classroom, so they know what they are talking about and will assist you to acquire the skills and knowledge that will open doors to potential employment.

In September 2019, the MTA Institute was announced as the “Small Training Provider of the Year” at the Queensland Training Awards, recognising the significant organisational professionalism and quality of education the Institute provides both industry and students.

Campus – The Sir Jack Brabham Automotive Centre of Excellence

The Sir Jack Brabham Automotive Centre of Excellence is a $10 million, world-class facility devised to offer the very best of training environments for the automotive professionals of the future.

Equipped with the latest, state-of-the-art technology and training resources, the Centre’s design permits a flexibility that allows the Institute to monitor changing industry requirements and ensure that all students at the centre are equipped with the skills to navigate current and future industry trends.

The Centre of Excellence features:

  • 28 mechanical and vehicle body repair bays.
  • Four fully equipped training rooms featuring the latest IT and communications technology.
  • State-of-the-art equipment for learners training in collision repair, including the latest technology in spray booths and body repair systems.
  • Modern student recreation facilities including a kitchen, lunchroom and BBQ area.
  • Dedicated student recreation lounge with computer facilities, TV and gaming entertainment, and a social area.

Motor Trades Association of Queensland

The Motor Trades Association of Queensland (MTA Queensland) is the peak body representing the interests of employers in the retail, service and repair sectors of Queensland’s automotive industry. MTA Queensland is committed to helping automotive businesses to be at their best and works to achieve that goal by training the next generation of automotive experts through its global training arm, the MTA Institute (MTAI).

Collaborating with over 1,500 member businesses located across Queensland, MTA Queensland is at the ground level when it comes to understanding the current and future trends affecting the automotive industry and has strong connections with businesses from independent mechanical repairers, to new car dealers, to tyre fitters, to paint and panel specialists.

MTA Queensland’s collaboration with the MTA Institute also provides opportunities to connect with the automotive industry to provide work placement and employment opportunities with valued, recognised businesses in the community.

Orientation and support

Your decision to study at the MTA Institute at The Sir Jack Brabham Automotive Centre of Excellence is a significant commitment. Be assured that the MTA Institute is fully committed to ensuring you are provided with the best possible learning and cultural experiences and career pathways to thrive in the industry.

On request, the MTA Institute’s support staff will ensure each student is provided with essential information prior to application and confirmation of enrolment.

On commencement of your course with the MTA Institute, new students will participate in an induction that will cover course outlines and qualification outcomes, assessment procedures, policies and procedures, facilities and student amenities, online access to the student portal and payment of tuition fees. Orientating students with the MTA Institute’s policies and procedures on commencement will ensure that this information has been provided and understood.

Students will also be provided with an orientation session on aspects to do with living in Queensland, Australia. This session includes useful hints on health and wellbeing, banking, mobile phone plans, accommodation, tourist activities, safety, security and transport.

Through the MTA Institute’s association with MTA Queensland, students studying at the Sir Jack Brabham Automotive Centre of Excellence may receive opportunities to connect with respected employers in the Queensland automotive industry to discuss possible work placement and paid employment. The MTA Institute will assist students where possible to secure opportunities.
