The Motor Trades Association of Queensland (MTA Queensland) is the peak body representing the interests of employers in the retail, repair, and service sectors of Queensland’s automotive industry.

In 2012, MTA Queensland established a training arm – the MTA Institute – offering world-class training to automotive apprentices and trainees, and international students. The MTA Institute is the largest independent provider of automotive training in Queensland, and in 2019 won the Small Training Provider of the Year award at the Queensland Training Awards.

MTA Institutes direct and strong connection with the automotive industry allows it to train the next generation of automotive experts in the workplace as well as face to face in our modern simulated training facilities. Students gain real-world skills that are valued by automotive employers and lead towards employment.

The automotive industry is in the midst of a skills and labour shortage. MTA Institute’s training programs link directly to the workplace and employment pathways to support the automotive industry to be more competitive in a changing global and local economy through the evolvement of a skilled workforce.

The MTA Institute’s international program is designed to provide students with industry placements with a variety of employers in various settings to practice the skills and knowledge learnt through face-to-face theory learning. Work placement allows students to explore possible career pathways available to automotive professionals in Queensland and gain experience in the workplace that may lead to paid employment in the future.
