COURSE DETAILS

The 091674D | AUR40216 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis qualification is offering:

  • Course length of 20 weeks (6 months), over 2 terms
  • 3 days per week  (8:30am-4:15pm) – Face-to-face and blended delivery modes
  • This course requires 75 hours of automotive workplace experience. MTA Institute will coordinate unpaid placement where the student is not in appropriate paid employment.
  • 1 day a week for additional tutoring, personal study time

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

To commence the 091674D | AUR40216 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis, the 103636G | AUR30620 – Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology must have been completed.

The following entry requirements apply to International students:

  • must be 18 years of age prior to commencing the course
  • require an IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent
  • Students who are school leavers will require a minimum of year 10 or equivalent. Non-school leavers will need to demonstrate prior qualifications and/or work experience.

To apply, students must supply the following certified documentation:

  • Copy of passport
  • Copy of English proficiency certificate (IELTS min. score of 5.5 or equivalent) from ELICOS partnered school
  • Copy of academic history
  • Copy of employment history
  • Copy of personal financial records

RESOURCES

International students will study in modern classrooms and undertake practical training in a simulated workplace environment using a blended online and face-to-face delivery approach.

All training resources and materials will be provided by the MTA Institute, apart from the mandatory personal protective equipment listed below:

  • Industrial clothing workwear (long pants/sleeves, overalls).
  • Industrial safety boots (steel-capped)
  • Safety glasses and safety mechanical gloves are recommended.

COSTS

  • 091674D | AUR40216 – Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis – $7,500*

*Additional non-tuition fees of $1,350 will also apply to cover application fees, administration fees, learning resources, and training consumables.

The MTA Institute may change its fee structure through its own internal reviews. Any fee changes will not affect existing students. Deposit and tuition fee amounts may vary depending upon the individual circumstances of the student. This will be clearly outlined in your Letter of Offer.

A deposit is required upon signing your Letter of Offer. All course fees are to be paid in full prior to starting each term. All fee and date details will be outlined in your Letter of Offer and Confirmation of Enrolment.

The Automotive industry is a major economic, technological, and social contributor in Queensland, Australia.

Automotive employers look for Motor Mechanics who are hard-working with a good work ethic, reliable and provide good customer service.

Automotive Light Vehicle mechanics maintain, test and repair petrol engines and the mechanical parts of lightweight motor vehicles such as transmissions, suspension, steering and brakes.

General skills learnt through training and experience include repairing; equipment maintenance; troubleshooting; operation and control; and operation monitoring.

The Automotive sector is experiencing substantial challenges such as:

  • technological advancements in vehicles including electrification; automation; and connectivity
  • increasing skills shortages
  • significant labour shortages

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL) AND CREDIT

The MTA Institute acknowledges the requirement as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) to recognise the awards issues by other RTOs registered in Australia, and will consider those issued by overseas training providers if relevant to this course. Support for students looking to apply for RPL and/or credit will be provided on an individual basis if applicable.
